Identifying a find
How do I identify something straight away?
Open Observe, tap Open camera and take the shot in the app. Matching starts immediately and the leading name appears while the rest of the answer is still arriving. You do not need an account to identify — only to save the record.
Why is my subject rejected?
Only species living wild count. Pets, livestock, zoo animals and garden or house plants are not matched.
What do the confidence numbers mean?
They rank how well the photo supports each suggestion. Suggestions are never identifications — check the guide entry before you record a name.
Your journal
How do I see my journal entries?
Every saved observation is listed in your Field Journal. You can search it, filter by kind or park, and open any entry to rename it, edit the notes or delete it.
Where are stamps and badges?
In your Passport: species and park stamps, challenges, badges and lesson collections.
Places and forecasts
How does the app know which park I am at?
With location permission, Observe fills in the nearest park when you are within about three miles; otherwise it saves as Other. You can always change it by hand.
What is the daily forecast?
Today blends your location, weather and the season to suggest what is likely to be active right now.
Privacy
Who can see my records?
Records are private by default. Locations are generalised to county level when shared, and sensitive species are never shown publicly.
How do I send feedback?
Tap the small note icon beside any page title, or beside a section heading, to leave a field note about that exact spot.
